smoking ceremony....need help please

Postby friesiancat » Sun Jul 24, 2011 5:48 pm

Hello, just wondering what plants I can use here in VIC to get rid of bad spirits? When I go to different places spirits tend to latch on to me and I need a way to detach stubborn spirits that wont let go of me. They end up coming home with me and wont let myself and my boy friend sleep; or they make me really depressed, anxious,or angry. Some have shown themselves to me in dreams and Im getting really dragged down by the weight of the ones that wont leave me alone. If they were helpful I would keep them around but they are hurtful and holding me back. If anyone has any ideas of getting rid of them it would be very helpful. Ive read about Indians burning sage but I reckon an aboriginal way would work here in australia since their spirits have been here for decades.

burning green Eucalyptus leaves seems to be the norm.

that has to be more to it....ive camped near a creek up near cooktown and was burning eucalyptus leaves in the fire and saw dark shadows creeping up the creek on the other side, i went over to see who it was but no one was there and then had this bad urge to walk out into the bush. I didnt because i knew i would get lost because everything there looked the same. Ive had other weird experiences in other places too, I talked to an elder I happened to meet one day and he told me a little about it and it freaked me out a bit because I didnt know about this stuff because I grew up in america.

There be dropbears and bunyips out after dark.

;)

Seriously, I'd be looking where I was walking in the dark.
Most of Australias wildlife is nocturnal.
If you shine a torch about you'll see eyes everywhere.

We export our bad spirits to News of the World.

It is just Eucalyptus smoke used in smoking ceremonies.

These things never happened at night only during the day. I am not someone who just jumps to conclusions, I look at things realistically and logically (and I dont smoke or take any substances): but most of these things I have experienced I cant explain. But when I told the elder about them he knew what was going on and gave me reasons for the experiences, and it makes sense. I'm very sensitive to things that others arent and people dont understand and think im nuts, I cant turn these things off (its not a case of an over active imagination). Its that I have less filters (or removed my blinders) than others and I notice so much more in life, people, and nature...Ive lost my tunnel vision. (sometimes I wish I could get it back)

Hi, I'm looking for some help with coming up with a name for our newsletter which gives advise to Aboriginal Health Workers on how to help their clients quit smoking. An Aboriginal name/word/phrase for the newsletter would be fantastic in the language of the Gadigal peoples of the Eora nation. Something along the lines of health, breathing fresh air, a positive word or phrase but something that is related to health/not smoking and Aboriginal people.
