PalmLand Terrey Hills

Postby cherax » Wed Jul 26, 2006 4:40 pm

For people in Sydney, I recommend palm land on Mona Vale Rd in Terrey Hills. They have (usually) quite an extensive edible rainforest section.
I scored a Perripentadenia mearsii (Buff Quandong) there yesterday!
Quite an unusual find indeed. (last I am afraid)

i concur with Cherax - PalmLand (a.k. Sydney Wildflower Nursery North) is great. Excellent native tubestock... i remember buying such unusualities as Tasmannia insipida, Zieria smithii, plenty of left-of-centre edible Syzygiums... lots of other stuff... Goodenia ovata & varia, lots of healthy grafted Citrus australsica (VERY pricey though) etc.

Smokewater too. But I would like to inform forum punters that my website is still the best place to get your smokewater ;)

it's this stuff that you mix with water that encourages seeds to germinate, if the seeds are of a species that responds to brushfires to trigger germination. it smells awesome ;)

JA, i can definitely get some to you, but it's for free, not for sale :)

There is an excellent source of GA-3 powder for all you plantheads: the famous JL HUDSON, SEEDSMAN, in California.

He & she are SERVICE providers to the world in many areas, including seeds as well as GA3 powder & kits (gloves, test tubes etc). Profit is absolutely minimal. Accepts PayPal; sends immediately. Will arrive in Sydney a week after you place the order. Faster than some LOCAL vendors ;)

Support David and Sheri... support JL Hudson.

And make sure to get their catalogue while you're at it. An amazing catalogue indeed... almost on a par with Richo's legendary Horizon Herbs tome.

BTW JA,
i would bet my big ugly boat of a cadillac that GA3 will bring your next batch of pituri seeds to life faster than any other pretreatment. it works for myoporoides... it works for hopwoodii. Thats where my money is.

Yes, I tend to agree with you in fact I know it works well on D.myoporoides although I almost lost them all last week when a nasty old snail got into one of my hot-houses, fifty varieties of plant to choose from and it decides to go for the myoporoides, a week later and they all look like they may have survived the trauma, phew.

I remember that I used both the native seed starter and the GA-3 that you sent me on them, this year I might do control tests on both hopwoodii and myoporoides with seed starter and GA-3 just to see whats what.

Thanks for the kind offer of free GA-3, I wont take you up on it just now as I already feel a bit indebted to you for past dealings, and thanks for the link to JL HUDSON, I will see how I go with them.

Hey cherax,
A bit off-topic, but have you been into the Kimbriki Tip Eco-garden, also in Terrey Hills? I just got some great info from them for my latest assignment, but forgot to ask what bushfood plants they're growing.
