Prostantheras

Postby cjay » Thu Nov 03, 2011 6:00 pm

Hi all,

I am looking to increase my collection of prostantheras, however am finding it painfully difficult to find any nurseries that stock the non cliche varieties which are near Sydney, or at least do mail order.

Is anybody aware of any nurseries that I can consult over this as I am just about doing my head in at the apparent scarcity (or clandestine nature) of such vendors.

Thanks in advance.

Have you tried Terrey Hills? I just did a search for native plants and found this pdf - hope it's helpful. I don't see the prostanthera listed, but I'm sure they could point you in the right direction. Let me know how you go! :)

Why not just list the prostanthera that you do have and those that you wish to find?

heya, i am an avid prostanthera fan. i had many in a previous garden and am slowly building up my collection at our new place. What are you looking for? if you can wait, i can provide you with cuttings of P. rylstonii (yes go google that one, not a great deal of info!!) i also have P.lasianthos in it's original form. And the usual P.incisa and P. rotundifolia.
At the moment there are some prostanthera's for sale on ebay, aspalathoides and striatifolia.
And finally, while you're at ebay put in a search for "the cradle of incense" by George Althofer. He used to live near wellington in centralwest NSW and 'wrote the book' on prostanthera.
PM me if you want to talk prostanthera.
cheers stru.
