White Bunya tree

Postby bunyanuternie » Thu Jan 10, 2008 2:20 pm

I propagate a lot of bonyi-bonyi or bunya trees as they are commonly known every year , this year I had a white one come up , I have taken it away from the others and potted into a 6 inch pot and it is growing well, It now has two branches and is still all white , I have been sprouting them for years but have never seen a white one , Is their anyone else out their that has seen or heard of one , I have photo's but don't know how to post them , If anyone would like to see them I can email them or I can Email them to someone who can post them , ???Ian

Ah! Are you the person asking about white bunyas in the Backyard Poultry forum? If so, welcome!

There's a photo gallery available with this forum - look at the Photo Gallery link to the left. You need to register separately, however. If it all seems like too much work :), email them to me and I'll upload them for you. I'd love to see this beast!!

White Bunya

I have grown these a bit and I find that occasionally you will have a plant without any chlorophyll. It should eventually green up or die. It would be extremely surprising if it remained this colour.

yeh it's not uncommon for plants to have the ocassional albino characteristic

more common in mangoes than anything else

i've got a Davidson Plum growing slowly, because its not entirely white ..

but generally they are not making full use of the suns energy and won't last long ~

still, they look pretty kewl aye

  Of cause it's Ernie from The Bunya Mountains , Their could only be one me , Although the world could do with a few more  ,My Hair is a bit longer , I'm a little bit wiser (I think) and Have heaps more Bush Tucka Plants ,and I am still trying to sing, (have a look in the Members Galleries) I was just talking about the Bunya Mountains Red Blanket Gathering ,To a freind on Barkers Creek a couple of days ago , What a beautiful Thing that was , I wish they did it every year ,
My two white Bunya's are very special , I have allready Posted Piccies of them , Despite what the critic's thought (myself included ) They are very much alive and competing well with Their green Brothers and Sisters , I propagated heaps more Bonyi-Bonyi this year and have still dedicated my life to the dispersal of the species ,
If you heard me Sing at the Bunya's ,Which one were U ??

I LOVE that your dream is to get this species planted everywhere ...
