Candlenut seed supplier needed. for human consumption

Postby sneatchers » Sun Jul 19, 2009 2:29 pm

Hi, I hope some of you can help me. I am trying to find a supplier of candlenut seeds that are suitable for human consumption.

I have found gardening supplies but i'm worried that they may be treated or sprayed.

Intended use is medicinal, I understand the toxicity issues associated with this plant.

At present we are paying $100 for 12 seeds from our local healthfood shop thinking they were an imported product. Now we have discovered that they are australian bush tucker. we feel very ripped off, but they are working wonderfully and want to continue using them, just without the $100 price tag.

Hopefully one of you can point me in the right direction.

Thanks
Amanda

wow, you were ripped off  !

I'm sure there are plenty of people who have these seeds around, plants produce hundred of seeds each year, or more. If i had one i'd send u some but i'm gonna get a plant shortly, been ages since i grew it.

So you found this to be successful for weight loss?

yeah big time lol

we went halves so was only $50 to begin with but we have just paid 4 the 2nd lot and waiting 4 it to be delivered. so $100 each lost.

more fool us- i did research it but did not come up with any sites mentioning australia amoung the native countries.

yes it works nicely. not so much "weight" loss but deffinate shaping and "size" loss. that is using 1/4 a seed per night. clothes fit, side of thigh chunks and love handles just "melting away" with no change to diet or exercise. had no gastro side effects but some crazy dreams 4 the first week of detox.

If i could find a supplier i would try and organise for the healthfood shop to purchase direct instead of selling the $100 ones. its not fair and could help so many people if it was more attainable.

I will try to grow the plant myself but i am in Mudgee, with frosts in winter.

I just spent three hours getting $100 from a couple for opal that they wanted.

I'd rather spend three hours getting candlenut seeds to take three minutes to mail to you.

Considering that having the opal to show them cost me thousands of dollars and years off my life.

Similar could be said about candlenuts if you were climbing rainforest trees to get them.

Many plants which are from rainforests.. are only frost tender when young.
You'd be surprised at the parts of Australia where such plants can be grown with only frost protection when young.
_ Any plant will grow from a single bud if you can replicate the required circumstances.

Sounds interesting but how come the Australian aborigines didn't waste away to nothing when they used the plant as a major calorie source? They ate a lot more than half a seed per night.

Amanda, you have been circling us for some months now. To be clear here the product you purchased from the Health Food store is imported from Brazil- as I have previously told you. Candlenut is native in many countries (it is the national tree of Hawaii). The seed however takes properties (as all plants do) from their local climate and soil content. If the local variety produced the same results do you not think we would have saved 4 years of effort and have gone to local suppliers. We are dealing with people's health and wellbeing here- Our business takes that responsibility seriously. For anyone reading this blog and wishing to know more, feel free to contact me. I felt obliged to write this as it really concerns me when people who are uninformed make incorrect claims.

I still don't get how the world's fattiest nut, used as a source of calories by polynesians and indigenous Australians, as well as by South Americans, can help with weight loss in any way. Surely the reverse would be true.

It is true i have to admit, some of the plants we grow out here that also occur in Asia have different attributes, some are eaten in Asia and are toxic/unpalatable out her in Australia. I always got the feeling that candlenut was more a laxative out here, requiring preparation to eat them
