kicking the habit

Postby Hooroo » Tue Apr 15, 2008 8:33 pm

Hi dudes, long time no see.

got a lil issue I'm hoping to fix, wondering if anyones got some tips.
is there a plant i can grow that'll calm me down and help me get off the gunge?

been smoking for 20 years, was great in the early days but these days all that's about is hydro stuff which is a different ball game altogether.
just can't get off it, 24 hours, no gunge, i'm ready to rip heads off big time!
everything from road rage to yelling at little old ladies that jump the queue at bi-lo :)

smoke about a 1/4 of an oz a day, yep, virtually non stop from morning til night, even get up at night, hit 5 or 6 cones and go back, my throat is stuffed, I haven't done a thing in years, just sit there and veg' out all day.

what i'm after is a tonic i can brew up or a magical berry or something that'll tie me over until I can get it totally out of my system and mind, i don't want to be straight, just mellow without having to inhale smoke.

is there anything like that? not into mushies or tripping out, just want something that i can grow legally to mellow out and kick this smoking habit.

although everyone is different ....

but ultimately, nothing external will solve any addiction, you need to cultivate determination and be really clear that you are addicted, and that this addiction is limiting your potential ~

be persistent ~ it is a huge step even acknowledging you have an addiction ~

focus on some new things you want to create in your life, such as spending more time in nature. . or more time writing .. or something that you love doing, but don't have the time or energy when stoned

~

oh, you wanna know a plant you could grow that'll calm you down ?

hmmm, try cauliflower ~ or garlic ~ perfect time for it

best of luck, stay strong ~ be gentle and true

Perhaps, over a period of time, rather than going cold Turkey, slowly cut down your intake until your down to almost nothing at all. And then go cold turkey.

Hey man, I was the same for years. Like you, I would also wake up to have a smoke (on average 4 times a night).
I find it better now that I've stopped mulling up with tobacco, I usta' spin my mix out 50/50 and as the bowl went down, if I had no weed, I'd spin it out some more. I thought I didn't smoke tobacco but in actual fact I didn't smoke paper
I relocated interstate and stopped smoking for about 4 months (not by choice though), when I started again I was smoking about 2 cones a day. It's gone up to a gram a day but it's stable with no tobacco, I buy a Quarter every pay day now and it usually last the distance 'til the next.
Hang in there man, be careful substituting highs, the steps always go up!
Weed aint that bad, sounds like you need to sort out some deeper stuff before you can check your weed intake, no offense intended, I wish you all the best!

Quitting is one of the hardest things you will ever have to do...

If it is at all possible, my first suggestion is to look at moving away from your current circle of friends / dealers. You'd be surprised at what removing yourself from your current situation can do.

If this is impracticle, start by reducing your smoking as much as you can and sourcing some "emergency" Herbal alternatives.

I say emergency because you should not treat anything as a "replacement" for weed otherwise you'll just end up with another addiction.

You see, even substances like Marijuana which supposedly have no physiological addiction can get you hooked if you are pre-disposed to addictive behaviour. This is true even with 100% legal herbs.

I would recommend you try:

1) Nymphaea nouchali var caerulea (Blue Waterlilly)
2) Nymphaea ampla (Sacred White Lotus)
3) Wild Dagga

There are a few blends available on the Shaman Australis website which look pretty good, but everyone's taste is different

Good luck mate.

If you don't think you can handle going "cold turkey" and moving away, then keep researching Hebal remedies / extracts / blends. You will find something that suits you through trial and error.
