i was recently in tasmania and learnt something interesting about a fungi....
i was on a cruise, and the tour lead to a little island called Sara Island (in Maquirie Harbour-Straun-Tas). This island housed convicts and there keepers. The island was a perfect spot to house the convicts, as the only escape was through horrible seas and thick, dense rain forests, which no man could survive in. But the officers and keepers had to come up with other methods to stop convicts from escaping, such as poisioning thier bread with a species of fungi. The point of this was so the bread would not last more then a day or two, so if a convict was to escape, he/she would have no food to survive on, or would they??? a very famous convict escaped that island with two others, the only way he survived was through cannabilisation!!!
it was a amazing tour! and i highly recomend it! oh and by the way, the tour guide could not tell me the species of fungi
