"This Is What We Said ": Australian Aboriginal people give their views on the NT Intervention
"This Is What We Said " follows Will They Be Heard? report, which examined footage from three consultations undertaken by the Federal Government in the Northern Territory last year in relation to the future directions of the NT Intervention. The same report then looked at all five regional workshop Government summaries from the same consultative process which sought the views of representatives from across the 'prescribed communities' of the Northern Territory. Sadly, new legislation before Parliament leads many to believe that the majority of Aboriginal people were not heard. This Is What We Said is one way of ensuring that views expressed during the consultations are placed on record. The book also demonstrates the resilience & determination of Australia's Indigenous people in their ongoing struggle to achieve their human & cultural rights in their own land.
This beautifully well written & illustrated book is available at $15. each, (plus a small postage fee of $2. per book for orders of 3 or less). Will They Be Heard report available by following links on the home page of http://www.socialpolicyconnections.com.au (Reintroduction the Racial Discrimination Act).
