Propagation of Water Ribbons

Postby MattW » Wed Nov 10, 2010 10:27 am

Hi all, new member here.

There are some water ribbons in some dams about 10 km away, and I would like to put some in a closer creek/water hole. Is this ethical for a start (they aren't a weed are they?) and secondly, how do I go about transplanting them. Is is just a mater of pulling them up and putting them in a new location or is there more to it?

Thanks.

Gawd, I just saved my answer as a draft then promptly lost it.
In a nutshell, my answer is no, I don't think it's weedy and yes, it's as simple as that to grow :)

Division is obviously the fastest method.
Seed is available from http://www.wildseedtasmania.com.au/

The fruit of this is also allegedly edible(testing unknown).
I have eaten small amounts and no problem. Not unlike a pea taste.
And according to my freinds at Plants of Tasmania Nursery the roots make fantastic chips.
